Jalapeño Cranberry Sauce

HAPPY SATURDAY FOLKS!

Have you tried making my No-bread Kneaded Rosemary Stuffing yet? Yes? No? Either way, next time you make it, you should also make this cranberry sauce to accompany it and kick it up a notch!

One of the blessings/curses of creating recipes (and living alone) is that I get to eat all of the food I make. Or have to? I hate wasting food!!! It is a crime of epic proportions (seriously, food waste is an issue in the USA that we need to address). ANYWAYS. I have felt like a walking squash due to all the squash I have consumed this week haha! So so good, but sometimes it can be rough having the same thing for errrryymeal.

As a San Diegan, I was raised with the notion that spicier is always better. Pass the hot sauce, please.

So how could one of my favorite holiday meals survive without spice? Thinking about it now, how on earth did I make it through 23 thanksgivings like this?! But fear no more, my jalapeño cranberry sauce is here! It is easy, fresh, organic, and is only sweetened by the natural sugars in the fruit and a dash of honey!

Four ingredients, 20 minutes, some water, and you are good to go! I can’t wait to try this atop some turkey!


Jalapeño Cranberry Sauce (makes about a cup)

1 cup fresh cranberries

1 cup filtered water

1 tsp lemon zest

1 tsp honey

1 Jalapeño


Place cranberries and water into a pot, cover (the cranberries ‘pop’). Bring to a boil, and keep boiling for about 10-15 minutes, until it starts to become… well, saucy. Add lemon zest and honey, stir. Finally, cut a slice of jalapeño, and add to the pot. Let simmer for about a minute or two (doesn’t take long for the spice to spread). And BOOMB. Some kick for your turkey day.

HINT: This also goes AMAZINGLY on cheese. Great as an appetizer year-round!!
